THE INSULATION AND HEATING OF TEMPORARY WAREHOUSES.
For many clients considering purchasing a temporary warehouse, one of the key questions concerns the thermal insulation and heating systems which can be deployed in tent halls.
The intended purpose of temporary warehouse , the specific requirements related to the stored products, stock, the insulation parameters of the PVC canvas covering the roof, and the heating systems, all condition the choice of wall cladding, PVC canvas insulation properties constituting the cladding of roofs and the heating systems.
Due to the fact that tent halls have diverse applications, being a fully functional alternative to various traditionally built structures (storage halls, warehouses, industrial halls, sports halls, agricultural halls, party halls), it is worth knowing the broad spectrum of solutions as regards heat insulation and heating systems.
Marquees, Party halls or party tents
are mainly used in the spring-summer season, and, therefore, they do not need so much insulation and heating as do, e.g. all-year storage halls.
PVC material is used as wall cladding, protecting against wind and rainfall. Additional heating can easily be provided with the help of portable electric, gas or oil heaters.
In the case of storage halls, using the sandwich plate (polyurethane foam with a 60-mm-thick core, a density of 40 (+/-3) kg/m3 – between 0.37 W/m2K steel plates) as wall cladding enhances the thermal insulation.
The element compatible with the applied plate with a 60 mm core is Sattler PVC material, with a basic parameter of 0.08 W/m2K (Polyplan Tremofoam 666), suitable for use exclusively on the roof surface.
A pumped roof is the next solution for the thermal insulation of temporary warehouses.
Warm air, pumped with the help of a heater between PVC membranes, forms an additional heat-insulating layer. Additionally, the pumped roof makes it easier to remove accumulated snow.
It is possible to equip tent halls with various heating systems based on heaters pumping hot air, or heat radiators.
Oil, gas or electric heaters are applied. Hot air is pumped through the PVC tunnels. Thanks to the heaters, in the smaller tent halls the desired temperature is achieved in a short time.
Heat radiators change electric power into heat the most effectively. By emitting infra-red radiation, they do not heat the air. These are facilities, walls, floors which are directly heated without the heat losses occurring in the case of air heating. This solution proves effective in heating tent halls and agricultural halls with livestock (cow sheds, poultry houses, pigsties). Infra-red radiation heats directly the animals.
The choice of heating system adjusted to the hall’s specifications and the client’s requirements should each time be based on thorough analysis and calculation. In this respect, Pol-Plan offers its knowledge and long experience.
